The Fable…
Emma and Ben are a couple in their late 30s who’ve moved from Camden to Yorkshire to build a more balanced, creative, and grounded life.
Emma is a textile designer. She works hands-on with fabric, specialising in natural materials, print, and making. She’s visually driven, practical, and ideas-led, with a strong interest in sustainability and craft. She spends her time designing, sourcing vintage and handmade pieces, running or attending workshops, and building connections within the local creative community.
Ben is a secondary school English teacher. He’s thoughtful, articulate, and intellectually curious. He loves literature, history, and culture, and brings that into both his teaching and his personal life. Outside work, he reads constantly, cycles, cooks, and gets involved in book groups, theatre, or local cultural events.
Together, they live a culturally engaged, intentional life. They cook and host friends, explore galleries and bookshops, cycle and walk in the countryside, support independent makers, and spend time shaping a home that reflects their values—warm, characterful, and creative. Their life is social but selective, rooted in ideas, craft, and community rather than pace or status.
